Privacy Policy
This policy is a translation of the original Simplified Chinese version. If the versions differ, the Simplified Chinese version prevails.
This policy explains what information Nuo (lobster-space.com, “Nuo,” “we,” or “us”) collects when you use the website, the app you add to your phone’s home screen, and the desktop client Nuo Desktop; how we use it, who processes it, where it’s stored, how long it’s kept, and what rights you have. Nuo is run by an individual developer. Please pay special attention to Section 4: Nuo’s servers are outside mainland China.
1. What information we collect
1.1 Information you provide
- Account information: your phone number or email address (used to sign in and receive verification codes), account name, and password (we only store a salted hash and can’t see your actual password).
- Social profile: the nickname and avatar you set in Friends, and the messages, voice messages, and files you send to friends.
- Content you give Nuo: chats, files you upload (images, PDFs, spreadsheets, and so on), files Nuo generates for you, Memory, Skills, and Workflows.
- Third-party credentials you connect: model API keys you enter yourself, your Claude account sign-in status, and the like. These are used only to call the corresponding services on your behalf.
- Top-up information: top-up amounts and order records. Payment is completed on the payment provider’s page, and we never receive your bank card or payment account details.
1.2 Information generated as you use Nuo
- Usage and billing: model usage, compute and disk usage, itemized charges, and your balance.
- Technical information: the sign-in cookie (used only to keep you signed in), IP address (used to prevent abuse of verification codes and APIs), browser type, and error logs.
- Notification subscriptions: the push subscription address your browser provides when you turn on system notifications.
- Time zone: the time zone your browser reports automatically (for example, Asia/Shanghai), so Nuo can talk in terms of your local time and schedule nighttime Do Not Disturb by your clock.
- Approximate city: the approximate country, province or state, and city estimated from the IP address you go online with (it may be inaccurate), which gives Nuo a reference when answering questions about the weather or things nearby. The lookup uses the offline address database of the open-source project ip2region and runs on our own servers, without involving any third party. We store only the estimated city, not which IP address it came from. This is on by default, and you can turn it off in Nuo under Settings → Account → Location & time zone. When you turn it off, we immediately delete the recorded city and stop estimating it. Your friends and their Nuo can’t see your time zone or city.
- Nuo Desktop: the folders you authorize, your computer’s name and operating system version, and a log of the actions Nuo takes on your computer. Nuo can only access the folders you authorize in the client.
We don’t collect your contacts, and we never use the microphone unless you turn it on. Audio recorded while you hold to talk is used only to turn your speech into text.
Precise location: used only when Nuo needs it (for example, when you ask it to find a shop nearby). The web page first asks you “Nuo would like to know your current location,” and it asks every time. Your browser determines your location only after you click “Allow once,” and the location is given to Nuo only to answer that one request. The platform doesn’t store it separately (like other chat content, it stays in that chat’s history and is deleted when you delete the chat). Nuo won’t write your location into files or send it to anyone unless you ask it to. Your friends’ Nuo can’t use this feature.
2. How we use this information
- To create and manage your account, verify sign-ins, and send verification codes.
- To run your cloud computer, carry out the tasks you give Nuo, and save your files and chats.
- To bill by usage, process top-ups, and show your balance and bills.
- To send the notifications you turn on (messages from friends, finished tasks, low balance, and so on).
- To show times in your time zone and schedule nighttime Do Not Disturb, and to let Nuo know roughly which city you’re in (you can turn this off).
- To prevent abuse and attacks (for example, by limiting how often verification codes can be sent), troubleshoot problems, and keep the service secure.
We do not sell your personal information, we don’t use your chats or files to train models, and we don’t show personalized ads.
3. Third parties that process your information
To provide the service, some information has to be processed by the providers below. We share only the minimum information needed for each task.
| Provider | What it does | Information involved |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon Web Services (USA) | Hosts servers, databases, and file storage; sends verification code emails | Account information, your files and chats, email address |
| Alibaba Cloud Phone Number Verification Service (China) | Sends text message verification codes | Phone number, verification code |
| The model providers you choose | Generate replies. Nuo Credits call models from DeepSeek, Zhipu, Qwen, Kimi, OpenAI, Google, and others through OpenRouter. You can also connect your own Claude, Alibaba Cloud Bailian, Zhipu, Kimi, Volcengine Ark, or other accounts | Chat content, and the content of files you ask Nuo to read |
| Volcengine (China) | Speech-to-text and read aloud | Audio recorded while you hold to talk, and text to be read aloud |
| Xunhupay and other payment providers | Collect top-up payments | Order number, amount |
| Browser vendors’ push services | Deliver system notifications | Notification title and summary |
Model providers process your chats under their own privacy policies. Your chats are sent to whichever provider’s model you choose or connect in Settings. When you use the platform credits, your conversations are sent to model providers through OpenRouter, and some providers may use this content to improve (train) their models; if you’d rather they didn’t, you can connect your own model account in Settings.
Content you choose to share (share links, and messages and files you send to friends) can be seen by anyone who can open the link or is in the chat, so check the content before you share it.
4. Where your information is stored (cross-border transfer)
Nuo’s servers are located in the United States (the AWS US East (Ohio) region), and your account information, files, and chats are all stored there. To make access from mainland China faster, network traffic passes through a relay server in the western United States. It only forwards encrypted data and doesn’t store any content. Phone numbers are passed to Alibaba Cloud (mainland China) to send text messages.
By signing up for or signing in to Nuo with a phone number or email address, you acknowledge and agree that your personal information will be transferred outside mainland China to be stored and processed. If you don’t agree, please don’t sign up for or use Nuo.
5. How long we keep it
- Account information, files on your cloud computer, and chats: kept for as long as your account exists, and deleted when you delete the chat or file.
- If a free user doesn’t use Nuo for 7 days in a row, the disk is moved to cold storage (saved as a snapshot; no files are lost); after 30 days in a row without use, the account’s Nuo and files are deleted (with a reminder 3 days before). For a suspended account, the platform may delete the data on its cloud computer.
- Verification code sending records: 2 days. Notifications: 30 days. Nuo Desktop action logs: 30 days.
- Files sent between friends: 30 days. Messages: 180 days.
- Share links: until the expiration you set, or deleted when you revoke them.
- Time zone and estimated approximate city: updated each time you open Nuo. The city is deleted immediately when you turn off city estimation, and both are deleted when you delete your account.
- Charge and top-up records: kept for as long as your account exists, for reconciliation (itemized records older than 7 days are merged into hourly summaries).
6. How we protect your information
- HTTPS encryption across the entire site. Passwords are stored only as hashes. Verification codes are stored only as hashes and become invalid after 5 wrong attempts.
- Each Nuo has its own isolated cloud computer and disk that other users can’t access.
- Provider keys are stored only on the platform’s control side and never enter your cloud computer.
- The database is backed up daily, and the backups are also stored on AWS.
No system can guarantee absolute security. If a personal information security incident occurs, we’ll notify you promptly and take remedial measures.
7. Your rights
- Access and correction: view and change your phone number, email address, and password in Nuo under Settings → Account, and change your nickname and avatar in Friends.
- Delete: you can delete chats, files, Memory, share links, and friend messages at any time.
- Withdrawing consent: you can pause or remove Nuo Desktop on your computer at any time, and in Settings you can turn off notifications, turn off estimating your city from your network location, and remove third-party accounts you’ve connected. For precise location, you have to click “Allow once” every time.
- Deleting your account: request it through the contact method below. Once we’ve verified that it’s you, we’ll delete your account and the data on your cloud computer within 15 business days (except for records we’re required by law to keep).
8. Minors
Nuo is intended for adults. Minors under 14 should use it only with the consent and guidance of a guardian. If a guardian finds that a minor has signed up without consent, please contact us to have the account deleted.
9. Updates to this policy
When the service changes, we’ll update this policy and show the update date at the top of the page. We’ll let you know about important changes on the website or in a notification. If you keep using Nuo after an update, you agree to the updated policy.
10. Contact us
If you have any questions or complaints about this policy or your personal information, or want to delete your account, contact us through Feedback in Nuo under Settings → More, or through “Feedback” in the website footer. We’ll reply within 15 business days.
